Saint John Chrysostom (344-407), Archbishop of Constantinople, ponders on angels in the following way: “There is need to praise the Angels, for they hymn the Creator, and entreat Him to impart goodness to men.” They are the mystical creatures in the Judeo-Christian history of redemption, who play an important role in other major religions as well and who are regarded as bodiless heavenly powers in Byzantine mythology and terminology.
The title of the album evokes the most earthly attribute of the bodiless heavenly powers, i.e. their ‘wings’, which enables them to take help wherever and whenever in the vast world. During the Grand Finale of Saint Ephraim Male Choir’s Wings tour compositions in English, Aramaic, Old Church Slavonic, Greek, Hindi, Latin, Hungarian, Galician Portuguese, Sotho, Sardinian, Serbian and Ukrainian will be performed alongside the famous ‘bell-prayers’ that are well-known for the fans of the choir.
Wings -Tour Grand Finale is both a classical and a church music delicacy where parts of a brand new movie portrait about Saint Ephraim Male Choir are inserted in the programme, turning the concert into a real audio-visual treat for the audience.
