Balázs Fülei, Liszt Prize, Artisjus- and Junior Prima-award winning pianist, is also known for his creativity. In recent years, he has dazzled audiences with numerous unique ideas, series and unconventional concepts. Active as both a soloist and chamber musician, he also devotes his attention to music education as head of the Chamber Music Department at the Liszt Academy. The matinee concert will offer a taste of multiple sides of Liszt's oeuvre. The program is framed by Sposalizio and the ‘Weinen, Klagen, Sorgen, Zagen’-variations, both of which are significant but different in character – while the former is lyrical, the latter is dramatic and grandiose. Liszt’s song arrangements also feature in the program, in which the composer transcribed the very intimate works of Mendelssohn, Schubert and Schumann to his own instrument. In addition, a song composition by Liszt will also be performed, in which we can hear how the composer filtered his experiences from his inspirations. The concert will also feature the Piano Sonata Op. 110 from Beethoven, Liszt’s greatest role model, which faithfully presents the refined, unique tone of the Viennese classical master’s late creative period.
