„Händel’s Salon” or “Baroque Song-matinée”: these are the titles we might give to this concert, which features works by Georg Friedrich Händel, a composer of German origin but who is also regarded as a national composer of England. In addition to all these national roots, the program features vocal works in Italian, perhaps the best-known arias from the Baroque opera repertoire, such as “Ombra mai fu” from the opera Xerxes and “Lascia ch’io pianga” from Rinaldo. In addition, the audience will hear cantatas and – as an exception – two oratorium-arias in English. The program will be performed by artists well-versed in early music: two outstanding vocalists, Gabriella Ács and Dalma Krajnyák, and Zsombor Tóth-Vajna, a keyboard specialist and conductor, a leading figure among the younger generation of Hungarian early music performers.
