Edit Klukon & Dezső Ránki Piano Recital

Pianists Edit Klukon and Dezső Ránki have been regular performers at the Liszt Museum since 1986, therefore, and they will also give two concerts during the Liszt Museum 40 event series marking the museum’s 40th anniversary in September. Among the chamber music genres that demand the greatest degree of synchronisation – to the surprise of many – compositions for four hands or multiple pianos take first place. Without the utmost concentration and precision, it would be inconceivable to synchronise the timing of two equally trained voices. It is no coincidence that truly significant piano duos are capable of thinking in unison not only on musical matters. “Dezső Ránki and Edit Klukon play together on two pianos, – says composer Barnabás Dukay, – as if a single person were playing.” Dezső Ránki puts it this way: “I believe that the fact that we are partners both in music and in life is inseparable.” Liszt’s compositions form one of the most important parts of their repertoire, and the most fitting venue for performing them is the composer’s former home and concert hall. Edit Klukon summarises their artistic philosophy in this regard as follows: “In today’s hectic world, we have an ever-greater need for silence and contemplation. A significant part of Liszt’s oeuvre affords us this opportunity. We would like to perform this part of his oeuvre – which is, regrettably, rarely heard – at as many of our concerts as possible and for as wide an audience as possible.”
