Song-Cooking Matinee for Ages 10–15
Well-known classical music excerpts broken down into segments and arranged in a variety of ways
Chef: Tamás Beischer-Matyó
Moderator: Dániel Mona
The first “tasting” of the Song-Cooking Festival dives into the heart of the Liszt Kidz Academy matinees: the world of classical music. But what is it exactly that makes a piece “classical”? Is it the melody, the choice of instruments, the style of accompaniment, or perhaps a complex system of harmonies? Furthermore, how do we distinguish between the distinct flavours of the Renaissance, the Baroque, the Viennese Classical, and the Romantic eras?
To help us find out, musicologist Dániel Mona is joined by the Erkel and Bartók–Pásztory Prize-winning composer Tamás Beischer-Matyó, a true connoisseur of historical styles. Together, they will take masterpieces apart, twist them around, and reassemble them in unexpected ways to show just how much those tiny details matter.
In this “musical demo kitchen”, you’ll discover what happens to a composition when you swap out its key ingredients. It is an afternoon of exciting experimentation where – naturally – the audience gets a say in the final recipe.
