Song-Cooking Matinee for Ages 10–15
Bold sounds, exciting effects, and the contemporary music born from them
Chef: Máté Balogh
Moderator: Dániel Mona
We’re tossing the most modern spices into the Liszt Kidz Academy cauldron this October, as the Song-Cooking Festival turns its attention to the music of our time – or, as it’s often more dauntingly called: contemporary music.
But there’s no need for alarm! Contemporary music is thrilling, diverse, and frequently great fun. Think of it like an exotic flavour: it might feel unfamiliar at first, but once you’ve had a proper taste and found the right “key”, it can quickly become a firm favourite.
Providing that key alongside host Dániel Mona is the acclaimed composer and performer Máté Balogh, a recipient of the Erkel, Junior Prima, and double Artisjus Prizes. With a reputation that stretches far beyond Hungary, Balogh is a master of music history; he builds the music of the present from the foundations of the past, all while keeping a keen eye on the future. Using the human voice, an array of instruments, and perhaps a few surprises, he will demonstrate that an infinite number of sounds are waiting to be mixed – sounds we’ve never heard before, but which are absolutely worth discovering.
