Conductor: László Kovács

László Dubrovay, who explores the possibilities afforded by wind instruments and who likes pushing the limits of instrumental playing, has written numerous compositions for exceptionally talented musicians. His new Bassoon Concerto will be performed by György Lakatos, who is equally at home in many musical styles and is also committed to promoting the cause of new music. This time, he will showcase not only his virtuosity but also the different sides and shades of his personality. The concert will feature popular pieces such as Kodály’s Variations on a Hungarian Folksong “The Peacock” and Richard Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier Suite. The conductor at this evening performance, László Kovács is one of the most dedicated interpreters of Leó Weiner’s art and has already made recordings of many of his works, including the Divertimento No. 3.
