At a chamber music festival where the interplay between painting and music – or indeed, life and music – takes centre stage, children must also play a leading role. As Izabella Simon firmly believes, every child is a natural “universal artist”. It is this philosophy that drives the workshops led by the festival’s co-artistic director, where storytelling, fine arts, drawing, and interactive play are woven seamlessly into the musical experience. It is a journey across various artistic disciplines, always accompanied by music of the highest calibre.
The setting is the “attic room” of this palace of classical music: the enchanting Cupola Hall of the Liszt Academy. Each session presents a musical reimagining of a well-known tale, a vehicle powered by collective thought and creativity, opening the doors to a boundless realm of imagination. This time, the story of Babar the Little Elephant comes to life, featuring narration by Liána Várjon, the music of Poulenc, performances by the festival’s artists, and, of course, the truly spellbinding presence of Izabella Simon.
The artistic directors dedicate this year’s festival to the memory of Imre Földes, the beloved and highly respected professor of the Liszt Academy, who passed away recently.
