Panna Szöllősy Vágó is a doctoral student at the Liszt Academy and a scholarship recipient of the Bank of China, the Friends of the Liszt Academy, and Talentum Hungaricum. A frequent performer in Hungary’s most prestigious concert halls, she has also appeared at the Gödöllő International Harp Festival. Her versatility is on full display in this thoughtfully curated programme, which balances solo and chamber works with concertos by French and Hungarian composers.

The evening is framed by a Ravel arrangement and a Debussy composition, both defined by translucent textures, impressionistic harmonies, and an ethereal soundscape. The core of the recital is inspired by the artist’s doctoral research, which focuses on the harp concertos of Ferenc Farkas and Pál Járdányi.

Complementing these concertos are two unique arrangements: Farkas’s own transcription of his work and Járdányi’s adaptation of a well-known Bartók piano piece for solo harp. Both composers held a special affinity for the instrument. For Farkas, the harp evoked the lute – a symbol of a nostalgically recalled past – while Járdányi’s connection was deeply personal, inspired by his second wife, the harpist Erzsébet Devescovi, who served as the muse and dedicatee of his concerto.
