For more than two decades, the European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA) has served as fertile ground for shaping the musical world of the future, with a particular emphasis on chamber music. Its international program, ECMA PRO was created as a workshop that allows young, exceptionally talented ensembles to not only perfect their skills in master classes, but also to perform at prestigious festivals and showcase concerts. The Astatine Trio is one of the most exciting young chamber music ensembles in the United Kingdom. Their performance style has been significantly influenced by their mentor, legendary pianist Alfred Brendel. As resident ensembles of the Pro Quartet – Centre Européen de Musique de Chambre in Paris and the Kirckman Concert Society as well as Hans Keller Chamber Fellows at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, they won first prize at the Virtuoso&Belcanto International Chamber Competition in Lucca and at the Birmingham International Piano Chamber Music Competition. The Turicum Quartet quickly attracted attention with its unique sound and performance style: a few months after its founding in 2021, the ensemble won the Kiwanis Music Prize, and in 2023 it took second place at the Karol Szymanowski International Music Competition. Their concerts have been broadcast on Medici TV and featured in articles in The Strad and Violin Channel. As fellowship holders of the Villa Musica in Germany, they hone their skills under the guidance of such distinguished artists as Axel Schacher (Belcea Quartet), Johannes Meissl (Artis Quartet) and Ilya Gringolts (Gringolts Quartet).
