The final concert in the orchestra’s Mozart series again recalls the beginnings and closure of the mature opera oeuvre: the 31-year-old composer meets his 16-year-old self. Choral pieces, two fantastically virtuoso coloratura soprano arias and a puzzle offer the opportunity for comparison: is the text set to music the same, and who is the author? Mozart or Salieri? It is not easy to work out since just a few years separate the two arias, in addition to which both are masterpieces, marvellous and a wonderful challenge for a female singer. A prize for the correct answer!
