Domonkos Héja (conductor)
Domonkos Héja founded the Danubia Orchestra Óbuda two decades ago. The still youthful conductor was driven by three aims: to gather around himself a group of talented contemporaries in order to experience the joys of performing music together; to feature rarely played works on the concert programme; and to stimulate interest in classical music among younger audiences. The mission proved successful, and today the ensemble are an established part of concert life in Hungary. A special programme has been compiled for this 20th anniversary. Alongside Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 the evening is made all the more special by the inclusion of a true curiosity: the world premiere of the symphonic composition Dream of Love by violinist-composer László Sándor, one of the founding members of the orchestra.
