Special Guided tours – Introducing our renovated Organ Presented by Liszt Academy

Cancelled

What is a register and a manual? How does the keyboard activate the pipes? What characterizes the sound of the smallest pipe and how loud is the biggest one? In a 45-minute lecture about the organ of the Liszt Academy, these and other similar questions will be answered by organ artist Balázs Szabó, one of the leading professionals having taken part in the reconstruction of the instrument. The sound of the concert organ filled the air of the Grand Hall for the first time one hundred and twelve years ago, on the 15th of May in 1907. Following the reconstruction, its old sound is back at last, with the original instrument returned to its place. In the lecture, topics such as the intriguing history of the old organ pipes and the ingenious reconstruction of the console, as well as the incorporation of the latest technology into the controls will be covered. Visitors will also be able to listen to the remarkable sound of the „queen of instruments”, expertly played by organ artist Balázs Szabó.

If you wish to learn more about the premises of the Liszt Academy as well, you will be able to do so on a guided tour starting at 3:30 p.m. right before the lecture. As the number of participants is limited, we recommend you to purchase your tickets in time. To those purchasing a ticket for the guided tour, the organ lecture ticket is offered at a discounted price of HUF 3,000.
