The most important class, however, for me and for hundreds of other Hungarian musicians, was the chamber-music class. From about the age of fourteen, and until graduation from the Academy, all instrumentalists except the heavy-brass players and percussionists had to participate in this course. Presiding over it for many years was the composer Leó Weiner, who thus exercised an enormous influence on three generations of Hungarian musicians.

Visit the unique Art Nouveau building of the Liszt Academy! Following a comprehensive refurbishment concluded in 2013, all decorations and details in the concert hall - a shrine of music history - were restored to their original condition as built in 1907. Join our guided tour and marvel at the splendour of the Grand Hall, the elegance of the Small Hall, now known as the György Solti Chamber Hall, and see the fresco entitled Fountain of Art, one of the most significant works of art of the Hungarian Art Nouveau, in the upstairs foyer. Our professional guides will shed light on the mysteries of the building and guests can find out where the spirit of music lives.
