Since its formation in 2006, Ensemble Des Équilibres has continuously strived for dialogue between classical music and other musical domains. The French musicians, seeking to harmonize various aesthetic and artistic principles, were organized into an ensemble by violinist Agnès Pyka. They have created numerous special projects, such as combining Western traditions with Japanese improvisational art and Algerian classical music, and collaborating with the renowned fado singer, Cristina Branco, among others. They released an album featuring the complete chamber music works of César Franck written for string instruments in 2023. Additionally, Hungarian music also features in their discography: the ensemble’s 2011 album featuring Sándor Veress’s string quartets, released by Hungaroton, was a world premiere, and two years later, Agnès Pyka recorded Béla Bartók’s 44 Duos for Two Violins with the first violinist of the Talich Quartet. As a result of this collaboration, which was their initiative, the performance in the Solti Hall will feature a work each by three Hungarian and three French contemporary composers.
