The most important class, however, for me and for hundreds of other Hungarian musicians, was the chamber-music class. From about the age of fourteen, and until graduation from the Academy, all instrumentalists except the heavy-brass players and percussionists had to participate in this course. Presiding over it for many years was the composer Leó Weiner, who thus exercised an enormous influence on three generations of Hungarian musicians.

6th Éva Marton International Singing Competition / Preliminary 1 Presented by Liszt Academy

This year, for the sixth time, the Liszt Academy is organising a major international singing competition, jointly organised with Professor Emerita Éva Marton. For the preliminaries, the competitors who have qualified for the live rounds will prepare with a Liszt song and two arias – one of their own choice, the other to be sung only if the jury asks them to do so. The preliminaries and semi-finals will take place in Solti Hall, which is open to the public, but the competition will also be accessible live online all over Hungary and the world.

The competition is supported by the MOL-New Europe Foundation.
