Balázs Szokolay is a leading figure of international music both as pianist and teacher. He has an extremely wide repertoire, in which chamber music plays an important part. He has performed along with world-famous chamber partners, conductors, orchestras, he has appeared at the Royal Festival Hall, Wigmore Hall, Concertgebouw, and the Konzerthaus in Vienna. He has released over 50 CDs, and in 2016 the Liszt Society awarded him the International Record Grand Prix for his performance of the B minor sonata. He has made numerous radio and TV recordings. He is a regular jury member at music competitions and he holds masterclasses at universities around the world. Since 1987 he has taught at the Department of Keyboards and Choral Instruments of the Budapest Liszt Academy, besides which he has been professor in the University of Music Franz Liszt, Weimar.
