Barnabás Brindás and Tamás Pálfalvi win this year’s Yamaha Scholarship

28 February 2015

The students of brass instruments had the opportunity of tendering for a grant from Yamaha Music Europe GmbH in the 2014/15 academic year.

The European hub of the Yamaha instrument manufacturer disbursed 45 scholarships in 31 countries to young musicians aged under 25 in the framework of the scholarship tender announced for the 26th occasion. By tradition, from Hungary students of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music take part in the programme. This year, at an audition held on 17 February for 12 students of brass instruments, the jury (comprising Gábor Boldoczki, Gusztáv Hőna, János Kirsch, László Szabó, the Hungary representative of Yamaha, and chaired by György Lakatos, head of department) considered second year MA student of the trumpet Tamás Pálfalvi (professor: Gábor Boldoczki) and third year BA trombonist Barnabás Brindás (professor: Gusztáv Hőna) worthy of sharing the scholarship worth €1000.

Congratulations!
