We kindly inform our audience that the chamber music recital to be given by Vadim Gluzman, Johannes Moser and Yevgeny Sudbin on 7 December, 2017 - as one of the concerts in the series Chamber Music for the Grand Hall – has been cancelled.

On 23 June, the Dohnányi’s villa and garden – now privately owned- opened its gates to host the composer’s 140th birthday celebration. The invitees attended a wreathing ceremony, an out-of-the-ordinary villa and garden tour, and for the first time in the history of the building, a concert in Dohnányi’s study.

Scævola, the work of the young composition graduate of the Liszt Academy, Szabolcs Mátyássy - winner of the opera composition contest of the 2016 Bartók Plus Opera Festival - was performed by Andrea Rost and the opera students of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music directed by András Almási-Tóth at this year’s opera festival at the Miskolc National Theatre on 21 June.

The image of the Bartók World Competition and Festival has been awarded the Silver Blade prize in the category Design Solutions/Image and Logo Design issued by the Association of Communication Agencies in Hungary for the 18th time this year.

31 May is the application deadline for the instrumental and composition masterclasses of the Kurtág-Ligeti Workshop - hosted at the Liszt Academy between 17 and 21 July. The courses of the 5-day workshop are open to all students and staff members of all music institutions and can also be attended by the general public as an audience.

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of László Vikár at the age of eighty-eight, the Széchenyi Award-winning ethnomusicologist and former professor of the Liszt Academy.

The international jury announced the $80,000 first prize to the pionist, Zoltán Fejérvári on 10th May, at the 2017 Montreal International Musical Competition.

The Polish-Hungarian Piotr Anderszewski, a favourite of the Budapest audience, is not only brilliant as a pianist but also has an exciting personality as an artist.
