The most important class, however, for me and for hundreds of other Hungarian musicians, was the chamber-music class. From about the age of fourteen, and until graduation from the Academy, all instrumentalists except the heavy-brass players and percussionists had to participate in this course. Presiding over it for many years was the composer Leó Weiner, who thus exercised an enormous influence on three generations of Hungarian musicians.

End-of-year opening hours of the Liszt Academy

We would like to kindly inform you that the ticket office of the Liszt Academy is open during the holiday season except on 24, 25 and 26 December.

Opening hours of the ticket office at the end of the year

The opening hours of the ticket office on Liszt Square during the holiday season are as follows:

  • until 21 December: normal opening hours, i.e. from 14.00 until the interval of the evening performance
  • 22 December: 14.00-18.00
  • 23 December: 14.00-18.00
  • 24, 25 and 26 December: closed
  • 27 December: 14.00-18.00
  • 28 December: from 14.00 until the interval of the evening performance
  • 29 December: 14.00-18.00
  • 30 December: from 14.00 until the interval of the evening performance
  • 31 December: 14.00-16.00
  • 1 January: from 16.00 until the interval of the performance at 18.00

The online ticket booking service is available continuously during the holidays, irrespective of the opening hours of the ticket office.

The guaranteed guided tours for which no registration is required are held as follows in the Main Building of the Liszt Academy on Liszt Square:
