In line with a well-established tradition, the leadership of the Liszt Academy laid a wreath on the tomb of Béla Bartók on March 25, and the board of trustees of the Bartók – Pásztory Prize presented this year's awards, which were bestowed on opera singer Péter Fried and composer-organist András Gábor Virágh.

The application for the Bartók World Competition 2022, which will continue with a contest of composers, is now open. Liszt Academy, the organizer of the event, is inviting applicants to submit works written for violin-piano duets. The prestigious international jury will be chaired by world-renowned American composer John Corigliano.

Tickets have gone on sale for the Liszt Academy’s 2022 concerts that will feature several international celebrities and rarely performed works. Those who buy tickets to several concerts of a given series will receive significant discounts.

Ten young talents were awarded the Junior Prima Prize in Music this year and the majority of the winners are current and former students of the Liszt Academy. The jury was chaired by Dr. Andrea Vigh, President of the university, and renowned faculty members sat on the panel.

A new publication – complete with a DVD - featuring unknown versions of Franz Liszt's works was presented at the Old Academy of Music on November 13. At the event, Alajos Landau's 1873 charcoal drawing of Liszt, purchased by the Liszt Museum Foundation in Vienna, was also unveiled.
