10 April 2017

The record by the trumpeter Gábor Boldoczki, member of the Liszt Academy academic staff, was recognised with the International Classical Music Award (IMCA) in the category ‘Contemporary music’.

The IMCA-jury consisting of the representatives of 16 music journals of 14 countries selected 17 video and audio performances from the 321 candidate-recordings. The awards were conferred at Gewandhaus in Leipzig at the IMCA Award Ceremony on 1 April. 17 performances won in 15 categories, and in the category ‘Contemporary music’, the trumpet virtuoso, Gábor Boldoczki’s label Oriental Trumpet Concertos featuring the compositions of Krzysztof Penderecki, Fazil Say, Alexander Arutiunian and Aram Khachaturian was acknowledged with the prize. (For the complete list of winners, see the IMCA website at http://www.icma-info.com/winners-2017/). Commercial and business considerations do not play a part in the selection of the awardees. The chairman of the international jury was the editor-in-chief of the Luxemburg classical music magazine, Pizzicato, Remy Franck, while Hungary was represented in the jury by the magazine Gramofon - Klasszikus és Jazz.
