The Liszt Ferenc Chamber Choir will perform as resident ensemble and the Liszt Academy Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by Ken-Ichiro Kobayashi and others. Contemporary music enthusiasts can listen to the works of György Kurtág and György Ligeti as well as a composers’ group of young Hungarians. Chamber Music Evening of Péter Frankl, Miklós Perényi and Gergely Ittzés will give a selection of best performers of three generations. Péter Nagy will give a chamber concert accompanied with the soloists of the Berlin Philharmonic, including Daishin Kashimoto, whose memorable concert with Yuja Wang has been a great success.
The Solti Hall series features masters of the international concert halls who are also in demand as soloists like Frank Peter Zimmermann, Baiba Skide, Xavier de Maistre, Antoine Tamestit, Maxim Rysanov and last but not least Dóra & Katalin Kokas who are priorly known for and loved by the Hungarian audience.
The Orchestra in the Center series will bring us works from Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and Mendelssohn as well as delicate concertos and the most beautiful plays for string orchestra of the 20th and 21st centuries performed by distinguished chamber orchestras and leading musicians. All three orchestras have important Hungarian connections: the Danish Chamber Orchestra has been called into being by Ádám Fischer, Gábor Takács Nagy is the art director of the Manchester Camerata, and the venerable Camerata Salzburg has been founded by Sándor Végh.
At the concerts of the Masters of the Orchestra results of a year’s orchestral programmes and workshops of the Academy of Music can be admired conducted by returning guests Pinchas Steinberg and Ken-Ichiro Kobayashi and a new conductor: Gergely Vajda. The silver thread of our Four by Four series of string quartets lines through Haydn’s and Bartók’s works this spring, performed by leading quartets of the planet: the Belcea Quartet, the Jerusalem Quartet, the Arditti Quartet and the Takács Quartet.
Works of György Kurtág, György Ligeti and the Vienna neoclassicism will give the core of our contemporary music series Here and Now with works very rarely performed – being playable for only very few musicians. The introductory concert of a young composers’ group grown from academical roots, the Studio 5 will also be on programme.
The piano series Black and White Colours gives the opportunity to the members of generation Y (the thirtysomethings) to play relatively rare pieces of the piano repertoir. At Home at the Liszt Academy features the resident choir of the Academy the New Liszt Ferenc Chamber Choir in several genres. The popular children’s series, the Liszt Kidz Academy won’t be missing and will entertain the youngest of our audience with stories like that of the new organ of the Liszt Academy.
