József Balog & Tamás Érdi

Pianist Tamás Érdi, laureate of the Prima Primissima and Liszt Prizes, won the Louis Braille Piano Competition in Moscow at the age of 17. His concerts have been enjoyed by audiences in 28 countries as well as those in such prestigious venues as the Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and Barbican Centre. In 2010, Zoltán Kocsis said about him: “His touch on the keyboard is far more sensitive than that of sighted people. In his playing, in certain dynamic ranges there is a sensitivity that for us is simply not possible. I would go so far as to say that this ability could be gauged as Chopinesque...”

József Balog has given more than 1000 concerts as soloist and chamber musician in more than 25 countries on three continents. In addition to the standard piano repertoire he enjoys playing lesser-known masterpieces, contemporary music and jazz-inspired classical music. During his career he has played alongside countless top orchestras under the direction of great composers such as Dennis Russel Davies, David Nimrod Pfeffer, Zoltán Kocsis, Kristjän Järvi, Jesús Medina, and Vitaly Protasov. His first solo album titled ‘Hungaricum’ won the Liszt International Album Grand Prix in 2005, his recording ‘Transcendental Etudes’ was recording of the month in June 2015 on one of the most prestigious classical music websites, allmusic.com. In 2018 he was honoured with the Liszt Prize, and in 2019 with the Lajtha Prize.
