National Youth Choir of Hungary
Cancelled
Conductor: Péter Erdei, László Norbert Nemes
The National Youth Choir of Hungary were formed in 2018 on the occasion of the Kodály Memorial Year with the support of the Ministry of Human Resources and with the professional expertise of the Kodály Institute of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, under the direction of choirmasters Péter Erdei, holder of the Liszt Prize, and László Norbert Nemes, holder of the Bartók-Pásztory Prize. Through an extremely demanding selection procedure, talented young singers from all parts of the Carpathian Basin are admitted to the choir, the mission of which is to establish a high quality artistic production worthy of the ’National’ in their title as well as offering participants a shared experience of a lifetime. The operation of the choir is realized in summer projects, in the course of which concerts are preceded by several days of intensive rehearsals. The ensemble had originally planned a tour comprising five concerts for 2020, the Year of National Unity, but their plans were overtaken by the pandemic. However, instead of the summer break the autumn break has become the moment to implement the programme, with fewer singers and fewer concerts. Following six days of hard work, the National Youth Choir of Hungary debut their programme of works by Hungarian composers for the audience at the Liszt Academy.
