Vilmos Szabadi, Nagao Haruka & Eszter Karasszon Presented by Liszt Academy

A Liszt Prize laureate and Associate Professor of the Strings Department at the Liszt Academy, violinist Vilmos Szabadi performs regularly with members of the up-and-coming generation. This time he has chosen as his partners violinist and viola artist Nagao Haruka, a member of the Central European String Quartet and Concertmaster of the Orchestra of the Hungarian State Opera, and Eszter Karasszon, a protégé of the Career Office at the Liszt Academy, who has a number of major successes to her credit. When mentioned together, Beethoven and chamber music will most often remind us of string quartets, piano trios and sonatas for violin and piano, although one of the most – if not the most – powerful characters in the history of music also composed for other groups of instruments. The trios for strings at the centre of the concert hail from an early, not-so-self-conscious period in Beethoven’s life, when he still respected tradition and was just making his first attempts to break out of the classical style inherited from Haydn and Mozart.
