Endre Hegedűs, Katalin Hegedűs (piano)

“What does it mean to me to play Fryderyk Chopin? Why do I always keep coming back with near maniacal enthusiasm to the music of the greatest poet of the piano? The answer, I can say for sure, is to be found deep in my soul: because every note of his creates happiness! His works so deeply imbued with pain and Slavic melancholy drive the clouds, tensions and fatigue from my heart like an antidote. His music revitalizes and is uplifting, it gives strength and captivates – his is a wonderland and everyone in this wide world knows it. Wherever I go, whether Japan or the ‘Wild West’, Utah or Oregon state, the request is the same: play Chopin, as much as possible! This wish constantly attends me and I fulfil it a hundred times, a thousand times, with unremitting fervour!” This is Endre Hegedűs speaking about the music of Chopin. In this recital, he takes to the stage in the company of his wife.
