The person who simply changed the basics. The composer who first said: all sounds are equal. The innovator who worked out an entire system, thereby breaking with traditions going back several hundred years. This is Arnold Schönberg, the János Neumann (mathematician and one of the founders of computing) of 20th century music, the fourth inventor of the spring season of Liszt Kidz Academy. At this season-closing matinee, musicologist Dániel Mona introduces – with the help of an ensemble comprising members of Budapest Philharmonic Society Orchestra – what a long path Schönberg trod from Romantic music to a brand-new system of sounds, what makes this tonality so foreign to our ears to this day, and how any Liszt Kid is capable of composing a Schönberg musical theme. Fairy tales, glitter, the creeps, curiosity – Schönberg knew exactly what the Liszt Kidz audience needs!
