Gnesin’s ensemble of contemporary music “Altro coro” was created in September 2010 in The Russian Gnesin Academy of Music. One of the main task of the ensemble is the popularization of the contemporary choral music. Their first concert was on 9 December 2010 in the Academy’s Concert Hall. The repertoire of the ensemble includes works by Arnold Schoenberg, Sofia Gubaidulina, Luciano Berio, Arvo Pärt, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Wolfgang Rihm, John Tavener, Heinz Holliger, Georgy Sviridov, Igor Macievskij, Valeri Kikta, Jefrem Podgaiz. Most compositions was performed in Russia first time. Over the years they have won numerous competitions in the Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, Sweden and South Africa.
