In 2023, the world will commemorate the 100th anniversary of Maestro György Ligeti’s birth. He was one of the most in uential Hungarian composers of the 20th century. Liszt Academy organises several concerts for the occasion throughout the year. Students will take part in an international collaboration and perform one of the composer’s last pieces, the Hamburg Concerto for solo horn and chamber ensemble with an orchestra set up of students from four other European institutions, and then they will present new works created by young composition students from these universities. The cooperation involves cities and institutions where Ligeti himself has lived or taught.
