Winds of Central Europe 1. Presented by Liszt Academy

A new type of mobility under Erasmus+, the Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) aims to combine online and face-to-face learning. The programme will bring wind students from the music universities of Graz, Zagreb and Ljubljana to the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in July, and it will conclude with two concerts to showcase the results of their joint work. Firstly, during an online session, Máté Balogh will give a lecture on the pieces of the second concert by Igor Stravinsky and Richard Strauss. After arriving to Budapest, the young musicians will begin their work under the guidance of Liszt Academy’s teachers. The concerts will also feature works by young composers who have won prizes in competitions organised by the Hungarian Composers’ Association and the Slovenian Composers’ Society for this occasion: on 8 July, the pieces of the 2nd and 3rd prize winners, along with the brass arrangements of Schumann’s Four Songs, and on 9 July the works of the winners. The latter concert will feature a brass arrangement of Ravel’s Three Songs and works for wind ensemble by Stravinsky and Strauss, alongside percussion pieces by Matej Bonin, Franco Donatoni and David Maslanka.
