Trio Opus One Presented by Liszt Academy

The second concert of the new series at the Liszt Academy, “Sunday Afternoon Classics”, introduces us to the ensemble named Trio Opus One. Their program opens with Beethoven’s Piano Trio in D major, one of the composer’s most popular and beloved chamber works. Its nickname, added later, derives from the mystical tone of the slow movement. The members of Trio Opus One enjoy exploring rarely played pieces, and this time they present one of Rachmaninov’s piano trios. The Russian composer created his Trio in G minor following the death of a close friend, and the composition is one of his most captivating chamber works. The young musicians are dedicated to performing both obscure compositions and modern musical works. This time, they will present Arvo Pärt’s piece written in honor of Mozart, originally composed in 1992 and revised in 2005. Like many of Pärt’s other works, his trio is constructed from simple musical elements.
