This six-part series showcases special, rarely heard musical works from the past 150 years of the Liszt Academy’s history. It invites listeners to a musical archaeology, featuring rarely performed works by former composition and orchestration professors of the institution. Kókai and Dohnányi, like Bartók and Kodály, were students of Hans Koessler. Albert Siklós, another student of Koessler, taught Ferenc Szabó, former director of the Liszt Academy, and Endre Szervánszky. On the family tree of Hungarian composers, we find composers like Veress and Szelényi among Kodály’s students, while Emil Petrovics was a student of Ferenc Szabó. This special chamber music evening will transport us back to the 20th century, a time when many musical movements were born.
