Brilliant violinist Ágnes Langer, prize winner of the Bartók World Competition 2017 in Budapest, takes to the stage in partnership with pianist Balázs Fülei, head of the Chamber Music Department of the Liszt Academy. At this recital in the Solti Hall, the programme comprises three violin-piano sonatas. Starting the evening, Norwegian Edvard Grieg’s final, third violin sonata which was among the composer’s favourite works. It dates from the second half of the 1880s. Czech composer Leoš Janáček wrote his only surviving violin sonata at the time of the outbreak of the First World War, in summer 1914. The concert closes with one of the most famous works by César Franck, the A major violin sonata (1886).
