Balázs Demény, József Balog & Danubia Orchestra

Two pianists, two concertos in D minor, two peaks of music literature on a single concert program. How does the piano wrestle, or perhaps simply playfully engage with the orchestra in these concertos? To stand apart and to blend into the mass, to ride the waves or to dive into the ocean—all of this will be present on this evening. The background and psychology of these legendary musical works will be explored by the evening’s conductor, Máté Hámori, while two of Hungary’s excellent pianists engage in dialogue with the orchestra using perhaps the most versatile instrument of all: the piano.
