On this evening, three well-known artists take the stage. Liszt Prize-winning pianist Ilona Prunyi, alongside performing well-known piano literature, is dedicated to uncovering and presenting forgotten 19th-century musical gems. She played a major role in initiating the Hungarian Dohnányi renaissance, making the Dohnányi works performed this evening particularly significant. Violinist Ádám Banda was admitted to the Liszt Academy’s School for Exceptional Young Talents at the age of 13 and has achieved remarkable success in several national and international competitions. He has previously collaborated with Prunyi in recording several albums. His sensitive musicality promises a special experience in Koessler’s sonata. After the intermission, the two are joined by Miklós Perényi, a double Kossuth Prize-winning cellist, who is considered a permanent chamber music partner of both artists. In the second half of the concert, the focus will shift to the works of Ferenc Liszt, including the melancholic cello-piano version of La lugubre gondola. The evening concludes with Erkel Ferenc’s 1837 work, which was first performed with the composer alongside the 17-year-old Henri Vieuxtemps.
