Mussorgsky: Pictures at an Exhibition
Tamás Érdi (piano)
Prima Primissima and Liszt Prize-winning pianist Tamás Érdi won the Louis Braille Piano Competition in Moscow at the age of 17 and earned a degree in arts as a student of Leon Fleisher at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto after spending two years at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. His concerts enchanted audiences in 28 countries, including such notable venues as Carnegie Hall, the Lincoln Center and the Barbican Centre. Following his return to Hungary, his recordings of Mozart, Chopin, Schubert, Liszt, Bartók and Beethoven have been published by Hungaroton; his key mentors have been Zoltán Kocsis and Tamás Vásáry, with whom he performed a dozen highly successful concerts. In 2010, Zoltán Kocsis stated: “His rapport with the keyboard is much more sensitive than that of a sighted person ... his play, in certain dynamic ranges, displays a sensitivity that is naturally impossible for us.”
Dear Audience,
On the last concert of the Black and White Colours 2019 series (that had been postponed from 15 December 2019 to 20 February 2020) due to Péter Nagy's sickness Tamás Érdi will be the soloist. Besides two pieces of Schubert Mussorgky's famous piano cycle, the Pictures at an Exhibition will be on the programme.
Thank you for your understanding!
