Formed in 1993 by Ricardo Gallardo, Alfredo Bringas, Raúl Tudón and Miguel González, the Mexican quartet is one of the best ensembles of chamber music for percussion. They have garnered four Grammy nominations, including one for best classical recording of the year. They are equally at home in the modern and the contemporary repertoire, as well as in traditional percussion music.
Giving concerts on five continents, Tambuco Percussion Ensemble has played at such famous concert halls and festivals as New York’s Lincoln Center, Washington’s Kennedy Center, the Barbican in London, the French Radio Festival in Paris and the Queensland Music Festival in Australia.
They often appear in concert with soloists (Keiko Abe, Stewart Copeland), chamber ensembles (Kronos Quartet, The Michael Nyman Band) and symphonic orchestras (Orchestre Philharmonique de Montpellier, Orquesta Fiqua).
