The pianist, Márta Gulyás, was presented the award in the Assembly Room of the Liszt Academy, on 20 April.

Based on the judgement of the three-member jury, representatives of twenty-three countries from four continents will have the chance to take to the stage of the Liszt Academy between 10 and 17 September. Forty-five of the successful candidates are ladies, while twenty competitors are men.

On 4 April, the director of the Liszt Ferenc Memorial Museum and Research Centre, Dr Zsuzsanna Domokos presented the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia and the Accademia di Santa Cecilia with the bust of Ferenc Liszt.

The record by the trumpeter Gábor Boldoczki, member of the Liszt Academy academic staff, was recognised with the International Classical Music Award (IMCA) in the category ‘Contemporary music’.

The Zoltán Kodály Composition and Musicology Scholarship, the Annie Fischer Music Performance Scholarship and the Dezső Lakatos-Ablakos Jazz Performance Scholarship were conferred on several students of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in the Grand Hall of the Liszt Academy on 3 April.

In the category of popular music, Attila László, while in the category of classical music, Péter Tornyai were the winners of the award of the Artisjus Hungarian Copyright Office Association this year. The life achievement award for popular music composition went to Károly Binder.

Please, be informed that due to the high number of applications, the list of the applicants having qualified for the preliminary round of the International Violin Competition of the Bartók World Competition & Festival will be published on 20 April, 2017, five days after the originally announced date.

The awards were conferred at the Liszt Academy on 25 March, 2017, the 136th anniversary of Béla Bartók’s birth.

One hundred and six young violinists representing 26 nations have submitted applications for the first international violin competition being staged in September 2017.

On the 15 March and 16-17 April, the ticket office of the Liszt Academy will be closed.
