Despite their youth, both the Hungarian Korossy Quartet and the Polish NeoQuartet have already garnered numerous awards and competition results. Both ensembles are committed not only to the classical but also to the modern string quartet repertoire. Their Liszt Academy program offers a fascinating and diverse glimpse into the world of 20th and 21st-century music literature. The evening begins with Witold Lutosławski’s String Quartet (1964), written at the request of the Stockholm Radio, which is one of the most significant works of post-World War II Polish music. This will be followed by a deeply emotional composition by György Kurtág, written between 1988 and 1989, dedicated to the memory of his former colleague, Endre Szervánszky. The concert will also feature the world premiere of String Quartet by the promising young Hungarian composer Balázs Kecskés D., offering a glimpse into his creative world. The evening will conclude with the String Quartet No. 10 by Aleksander Kościów, whose unique tone and expressive musical language will round off the program.
