Trained in classical music before turning to jazz, Júlia Karosi brings both refined vocal technique and deep emotional expression to her performances. Holding a degree in aesthetics and philosophy, she confidently blends diverse musical sources into a unique artistic language. Alongside her original compositions, Karosi has long been inspired by classical masters. In 2018, she won the Hungarian Academy of Arts’ Artistic Scholarship for her innovative reinterpretations of Bartók and Kodály works – arrangements that also feature on her internationally acclaimed album Without Dimensions. For Karosi, these pieces are living, Central European standards ripe for improvisation, allowing her to tell stories about herself and the world we live in. This same philosophy underpins her latest collaboration with Dániel Hofecker, who joins her in reimagining Claudio Monteverdi’s music. The concert will feature selections from the Baroque composer’s Scherzi Musicali, Orfeo, and The Coronation of Poppea, as well as several madrigals.
